On the morning of May 19, 2026, Catherine “Joan” Schultz passed away peacefully at the age of 92, just a few days before her 93 birthday.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Jim, in 2020.
Deeply mourning her loss are her children; Roslyn (Roy) MacArthur, Keith (Debbie) Skworchinski, Lori (Les) Paras, Dawn LeBlanc, Craig Skworchinski, Catherine (Curtis) Klos, her nine grandchildren, her 15 great-grandchildren and her brother Wayne (Karen) Whalen.
Joan was a faithful servant of the Lord, our God and a strong believer in Jesus Christ. Joan was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1980, where she was active with the Evangelical Lutheran Women, President of the Church’s Senior group for over 25 years and spent innumerable volunteer hours making layettes and quilts. During Covid, she and her friends made and donated 84 quilts to Luther Home. Joan was incredibly grateful for the love, support and friendships she made at Grace Lutheran Church.
Joan was a real trailblazer and incredibly proud of the fact she was one of the first women in Winnipeg to graduate as a welder in 1966. She felt great self-worth while working as a welder at Joy Manufacturing.
Joan’s true jewel in life was her family. Her love for all of us was immeasurable, her strength was unmatched and her determination always unwavering.
The family would like to thank dear friend, Anne Marie, family practitioner Dr. Zhou, the Palliative Care Program and Riverview Health Centre for all their incredible care and kindness towards Joan.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.
